Wigram Skies: Christchurch Sections Master Plan

The planning behind Wigram Skies

When complete, the Christchurch sections at Wigram Skies will be home to around 4,000 people and will provide leisure and recreation facilities for Wigram and residents of Christchurch's south west.

To help develop the concept for the community, Ngai Tahu Property called on the experience and skills of Sydney-based urban design company Woods Bagot. Designers spent many days in Christchurch and thoroughly researched the background of the area before coming up with their innovative and imaginative master plan. Green spaces, ease of living, and encouraging a healthy community are central to the design. The street and walkways layout too has been carefully thought through to help keep car speed down and encourage residents to bike and walk.

Care has also been taken to integrate the history of the aerodrome within the new community.
