January 2012 - House auction to help pay for cancer detector

Auctioning a house within the Cecil Hill neighbourhood at Wigram Skies will help raise money for better cancer treatment for South Islanders.  The Hornby Rotary Club are hoping to raise more than $200,000 to go towards the cost of an endoscopic ultrasound machine, used to detect the spread of certain types of cancer.

January 2012 - December Earthquake Update

Following the earthquake in Canterbury on Friday 23 December 2011 investigations of the Wigram Skies site have been undertaken by our environmental and engineering consultants Tonkin & Taylor. 

Their inspection of the land found no surface expression of liquefaction, no sign of land damage, no observed sand boils and no evidence of settlement or rotation of the structures currently on site.  There was also no land damage found associated with lateral spreading.

November 2011 - Defence practice devices uncovered

Further to online media reports, please find below a statement from Ngāi Tahu Property in relation to the devices found at Wigram Skies. 

We have since spoken with the New Zealand Defence Force who have confirmed directly with us that items uncovered were practice devices and were never live.

November 2011 - Downer win Canterbury Contractor Awards

Our congratulations go out to Downer, the company currently responsible for the earthwork and civil contracting at Wigram Skies, who have won three awards at the recent 2011 Canterbury Contractor of the Year Awards.

November 2011 - Water usage on site

Summer is fast approaching and with the warmer weather it is inevitable that dust will be generated on site. This is particularly so given the large amount of earthworks that are being undertaken in an attempt to get sections to the market as soon as possible in the wake of the Canterbury Earthquakes. To help counteract this dust we will be almost continually using water carts around the site.

September 2011 - New Neighbourhood Release

The fourth neighbourhood at Wigram Skies has now been released for sale.  This new neighbourhood will be known as George West.

Once completed George West will consist of 143 sections but this first release consists of 48 residential lots, zoned Living 1.  Titles are anticipated for February 2012.

August 2011 - New Neighbourhood Release

The third neighbourhood at Wigram Skies, Hastings, was recently launched to the public.  This new neighbourhood consists of 32 sections and it is anticipated that titles will be available in October this year.

Like the previous neighbourhoods, Hastings continues the Wigram Skies' tradition of commemorating flight or aircraft once used by the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF).

July 2011 - CERA My Housing Options Exhibition

CERA (Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority) have organised an expo this weekend (30 & 31 July) that will provide a wealth of information to people considering their options following the land decision announcements.

The My Housing Options Expo is being held at the Addington Events Centre, Twigger Street, Christchurch as a type of one-stop shop for residents affected by the recent earthquakes.  It will be open from 12noon-6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.

Wigram Skies will be a part of the Ngāi Tahu Property stand in the Silks Room on Level 2.  Our stand number is 58.  We look forward to seeing you there!
